The Plain

Reminiscing the days in Melbourne with a good friend of mine so we decided to have (what we do best) brunch at an Aussie cafe.

Darling's Egg

If you are not that hungry, you could go for the half version. Poached eggs with ham, cheese and roma tomatoes on Sourdough toast. Nothing special about this. I didn't remember being overly excited about this dish. Decent eggs benedict I'd say.

A good place to chill and catch up with friends! :)

Food for Thought

Decided to make a trip back to Food for Thought hoping we'll be able to get seats on a Sunday afternoon. To my delight, the wait was not too long before there was a bench seat for us. This was highly recommended by a friend of mine for its full works and pancakes.

And that was exactly what we ordered.

Couldn't decide on our individual dishes, so we ordered both to share!

The Full Works ($18.00) came with scrambled eggs, bacon, mushrooms, sausages and hash brown. After a really good scrambled eggs at House, this in turn was dry and chunky. Did not like the texture of it however, the hash brown was good.

Gula Melaka pancakes ($6.00) fell short as the sauce was way too sweet and pancakes were soaked in it. I didn't really like the pancakes and gave up eating half way.

Overall, it was a disappointing visit. However, this remains a popular brunch place so I might give it another try.

Barracks at House

Back at Dempsey to check out the other cafes. Today, we decided on House. Hidden at the back of Dempsey, it was quite packed on a Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly, I bumped into a friend when we arrived and she told me the eggs benedict weren't good. So it had me thinking what else should I order. Eggs bens and pancakes are my all time favourite!

Decided to go for the Barracks Freeform Eggs ($18.00). It comes with a choice of eggs (I had scrambled), mushrooms, grilled tomato, sausage and toast. It is almost like a full works/breakfast. One thing I must highlight, scrambled eggs were perfectly done. It's slightly watery, buttery and absolutely delicious. I loved every bite. Definitely my place to go for good scrambled eggs.
