Back to Toby's Estate

Don't you just have days when you wake up and badly crave for something? It's one of those days I woke up craving badly for Brioche toast. Strange indeed.

Initially had settled for somewhere else the night before but headed to Toby's Estate instead for some much-needed comfort food.

The Iced Latte ($6.00) and Iced Mocha ($6.50) definitely was the right pick on a bright and sunny afternoon. However, I must note that the iced latte was a tad too bitter for my liking.

Toby's Big Breakfast ($16.00)

What more can I say about this? Perfectly sauteed mushrooms, bacon, scrambled eggs and brioche toast. It's the ultimate breakfast.

Jimmy Monkey Cafe & Bar

Jimmy Monkey is a little quaint cafe at One-North residences.

The old, rustic feeling really brings back fond memories of Melbourne.

My usual skinny latte for a rainy afternoon. It was perfect! Nicely roasted beans, smooth and aromatic.

Would you have guessed? This is their version of French Toast with Golden Syrup and Fresh Berries ($12.00). I love their presentation where the toasts were sliced and stacked nicely. However, it's quite ordinary and plain.

Mr Hemmingway - poached eggs with smoked salmon on toasted muffin ($14.00)

The usual eggs benny. The colour of the hollandaise sauce was pale and less flavourful. There was also a slight hint of vinegar covering the poached eggs, something that I cannot stand. B liked it but I think there are better ones out there.

I'll be back again for their coffee, for sure.

Skyve Elementary Bistro and Bar

It's Sunday again! Have read some pretty good reviews about Skyve so I decided to check it out. Made a reservation the night before using Chope and it was such a breeze.

Arrived right on time and boy, was I glad that I made the reservation.

Before I could take a look at the menu, my attention was taken away by the table mat. Each table mat is different and unique. I loved mine as it shows the different stages of a sleephead. Pretty interesting read for a morning!

My pick was Ricotta Pancakes ($12.00) with caramelized almond and passionfruit butter. The passionfruit butter is amazing! Match it together with the pancakes, it brings out a sourish yet very refreshing taste.

B had the Croque Madame ($12.00). Don't be fooled by the simple facade of this dish. It was the better choice. The brioche toast took it to a whole new level. It was polished within minutes!

This chic and modern bistro with a subtle old school is definitely a place to hangout with friends. Love the quietness of the area too! However, you'll definitely need to drive there. Definitely will be back!
