Forty Hands

Was craving badly for Ham and Cheese Panini from Group Therapy but it was so packed that day, the waiting time was over an hour. Decided to settle somewhere else for sandwich instead and we ended up at Forty Hands.

Essential Skinny Latte to start the weekend!

Because I was craving badly for sandwiches, so I ordered the Jamaican Pork Sandwich. To me, it's one of the better choice of sandwiches there.

B had the Eggs Benedict which was very lovely. Simple delight!

Maison Ikkoku

Arrived at Maison Ikkoku on a late Sunday afternoon and was in luck to find a seat. Just a minute later and we would have to be on the waiting list. A pretty small shophouse yet with a pleasant atmosphere. It sets the mood for those who wants to just sit there, chill and catch up with friends.

Ordered my usual latte ($5.00)

Iced Mocha ($6.50).

We waited quite a while for the food to arrive. First up, was the Croque Madame. Honey glazed ham, gruyere on toasted sourdough with a fried egg on top. It looks amazing! But there was an overload of it's homemade bachemel that it was too much to bear.

The highlight of the meal. Salmon benedict!

Perfectly poached eggs, thick and creamy hollandaise sauce with salmon on toasted muffin. It's was delish! And the asparagus were nicely sauteed too. Have not had such lovely eggs benedict in quite awhile.

By then we were too full to go onto desserts. But their cakes look good too, especially the white chocolate banana cake! Definitely making a visit back here to try.

Kith Cafe

Yet another lazy Sunday afternoon. Today, in particular, I was not craving for any special. All I wanted was some comfort food (read: brioche toast). So, we decided to drop by Kith Cafe since I've been wanting to visit that place.

It is located along the same stretch as Toby's Estate along Robertson Quay. For those who drive, don't worry about carpark. You can park at the apartments and inform the guard that you're visiting Kith Cafe. They'll hand you a slip for you to get an acknowledgement chop when placing your order at the cafe.

My usual latte. Unfortunately, it was pretty mild and tasted more milky.

Brioche toast and Strawberries with Yogurt.

The raisin brioche toast was nicely toasted, soft and light. Accompanied with strawberries and yogurt, this simple dish was a delight.

Croque Madame with scrambled eggs (side order).

Couldn't resist to try their Grilled Banana Bread ($4.50). Initially I was expecting it to come with only 1 slice but it was a pleasant surprise that it was thinly sliced into 3 and served with cream.

I simply love the banana cake. It was moist and dense despite it being slightly toasted on the outside.

Baker and Cook

Yet another (relatively) new bakery popping up at the residential estates of Hillcrest. It's been much hyped about its bread so I decided to drop by to check it out. One thing to note, parking is horrible around the area. Partly due to the fact that it's within the residential estates.

It was surprisingly not as crowded as I was expecting it to be on a Sunday afternoon.

Salmon benedict ($16.95)

Presentation was top notch. Eggs were also perfectly poached. However, felt that it was only mediocre.

Eggs Mayo Tartines ($12.95)

Very simple dish served on its signature Pain Miche bread. The egg mayo had a very strong mixed of onions within which totally puts me off. Bread base was also too tough for the knife. Barely could finish one.

Lemon tart ($5.00)

This was the savour of the day. One of the best lemon tart I've had. Refreshing yet not overly sour or sweet. It was a delight and we polished it off within bites.

The last I heard about this place is that it only serves takeaway now.

Might head back again for their tarts but definitely not for the food.
